Some of my favorite PlayStation 3 games

I love my PlayStation 3, it has brought me literally thousand of hours of joy! Its probably the only console so far that I have beaten over 100 games on also. Of course I have gotten some favorites over the years, so this post will be about those titles I’ve enjoyed or just liked extra much. It will not be about all my favorites, just some of the titles I’ve had a blast with. They might have given me an extra laugh or just been fun to play, they had something little extra that made playing them awesome for me. Now some of these games are multiplatform games and are also out on the Xbox 360 for example, but it’s just that I beat the game on a PS3. Of course I’ve gone through some crappy games too, but I don’t want to talk about those games.

Batman: Arkham Asylum (Arkham series)

There has been a bunch of Batman games in the past, but none of them was especially good in my opinion. It was when Rocksteady made Batman: Arkham Asylum I played my first good Batman game. And boy I really enjoyed it!
While I also do like Arkham City and Arkham Origins. As I said Arkham Asylum was the first game that I thought that did Batman justice. The presentation of Batman, the designs of the villains. Everything feels top notch! I am so looking forward to Batman: Arkham Knight.

Darksiders

I’m a big fan of The Legend of Zelda series and I’ve always wondered why no one besides Nintendo could make really good adventure games like that. It seemed like no one ever really tried, until Darksiders! It has the elements of a TLOZ game and is set in a post apocalyptic future (meh), but it is a really great game. Of course it has its own problems like every game does, but this is still the closes thing to a 3D Zelda game, that isn’t a Zelda game and that isn’t on a Nintendo console. If you haven’t played a single Zelda game BTW, go do it now!

Lollipop Chainsaw

Now a lot of people will probably look at me and go WTF!? But this game is awesome! It has it all! Humor, music, zombies, foul language, and a hot babe with a fucking chainsaw (swing). The story is whacked and the whole game is just crazy, but that’s the reason I like it, and it has really good music! The zombie bosses in the game all have their own music style, for example, we have the viking metal boss Vikke. Voiced by Michael Rooker, badass! And the games script is written by James Gunn who directed Marvel’s, The Guardians of the Galaxy. I had a ton of fun with and at this game, I really do love this game.

Tales of Graces f

While the PS3 has gotten a bunch of awesome Tales of games, of all that are released in the west my favorite is… Dare I say it? Tales of Graces f. The characters are not the best, I’ll admit that. But I still like them and the world they live in and I really love the combat! Out of all the Tales of games, this is probably one of my favorite when it comes to combat. It was a blast playing! So much that I actually cleared the game three times! And I got the platinum trophie from the game. Love it, like it, hate it. Do what you must, I love it.

Uncharted 2

The first and third Uncharted games are also great, but it was the second game I found to be the best. The one I enjoyed more. Good villain, good story and I loved the environments. It had a great cinematic feel to it and was my favorite game to be released in 2009. And it had a fun multiplayer, which I and some friends constantly played. We loved it! Too bad the multiplayer in Uncharted 3 wasn’t as good in my opinion.

As I started in the beginning of this post, these are just some of my favorites. There are tons of games I have enjoyed immensely. But listing them all and why, would be too time consuming and I’m not sure I can put into words why I enjoyed them all. No one has to agree with this list, but it would be nice to find more people who actually enjoyed these games.

E3 2014: Sony and Microsoft

While Nintendo got its whole own post, I thought I would make just one with both Sony and Microsoft. Why? Well, Microsoft didn’t have many games that interested me and sadly it was mostly the same for Sony. I’m not saying the companies didn’t have any interesting games, not at all. Just that they didn’t spark much interest in me and those that I did have interest in I’ve mentioned before somewhere, like The Last of Us Remastered and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to give a few examples.

SONY
There was a few titles that really caught my eye, but some of them have been announced before. Like I mentioned earlier TLOUR and MGSV:TPP, so I won’t really count them here. But there where a few others that really made me happy.

Batman Arkham Knight
Sure, we have gotten videos of this before. But this was the first gameplay we got from the game. And it is huge! And it was so fluid, I like the other Arkham games and I am really looking forward to this one.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
OMG! This was one of the biggest surprises for me on this E3, I didn’t think they would show anything from the newest Uncharted. But they at least gave us this teaser and damn! I want this game now! 2015 is going to be one hell of a gaming year, goddamn!

MICROSOFT
I’m sorry to say that from what I saw from Microsoft there was only a few things that really interested me. But there was something at least and here they are!

Dead Rising 3 – Character add-on DLC
Having four-player co-op in this game looks to be fun as hell! Dead Rising 2 was fun with just one friend, but now you can add two more to the fun. Hell yeah!

Scalebound
I like Platinum Games and I’ve enjoyed the games they have released so far. So this trailer had me wanting more! I want to see more, I want to know exactly what kind of game this is.

Batman is beaten! And the game was…

… Really good actually! I was a bit worried when Rocksteady wouldn’t be developing Batman: Arkham Origins, but it turned out pretty good! Even if I’ve had my share of bugs and that I could have done without. Some bugs made it impossible to continue, I had to exit the game and then go back into it again for it to be possible to progress through the game. Sure, it’s not that bad. But come on! I shouldn’t have to reset the game for it to work. =/

Well the game is great and both Batman and the Joker‘s new voice actors do a great job! Troy Baker who voices the Joker is scary! He does such a good job at times, that I had a hard time telling that it wasn’t Mark Hamill that voiced him! He is great the other times too, but some times he is just as I said scary.
I love how they did with Bane in this game, he is smart, powerful and great! A shame he isn’t this good IMO in the other two Arkham games. But this is so far without a doubt my favorite version of Bane.

All in all Batman: Arkham Origins is a good game and I think you should play it if you liked the other two Arkham games. If you didn’t know this is a prequel and takes place before both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. This became my 94th beaten PlayStation 3 game and my 23rd beaten game this year. Only six more games to beat my goal of having played and beaten 100 PlayStation 3 games! Well I’ve played well over a 100 games, but I only count them I beat. And now we are roughly two weeks away from the PlayStation 4 release here in Sweden! I’m getting hyped and pumped! So looking forward to try the DualShock 4. Hope these two weeks go by in a flash!

What I’m doing now…

I’ve been busy as usual, but last week and this week has so far been pretty good. I’ve managed to finish Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD. Now try saying that name five times fast! It was pretty okay, the worst part about the game is its loading times. And that some of the sound effects sounds like a fart in a can. I’ll see if I can list everything about the game in a later post. That’s if I still care about it by then, which is doubtful.

Now that’s out of the way, I am going to start playing Batman: Arkham Origins. I’ve so far just seen about the intro, so I’m looking forward to start playing it tomorrow. I have watched some animes as usual and I’ve actually started watching a series I thought I would never see. That anime is Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (2012 ver.)
So far it is really nice! And I’ve discovered that Dio Brando is one sick mofo. It’ bloodier than I anticipated, but it doesn’t bother me.

This upcoming weekend I’m just gonna relax and take it easy. Unless I have to work, if I am not working I’ll game and watch anime all weekend. Ahhh! The good life. Only around 24 days left until I have my PlayStation 4! Hype, hype, hype!! So looking forward to that. :D

My throat hurts, I’m cold! Get me a blanket!

So I’ve gone and caught a cold. My nose is runny, my throat hurts like hell and I loose my voice from time to time. But I’ll survive this too, even if it feels a bit like dying. Haha, naa not really. But I don’t have much energy and I hope the coughing can stop, it just hurts the throat even more.
Sadly I can’t spare any time being home, since I loose to much money on being home from work. So I’ll just have to tough it out until I get better.

I’ve posted my review on Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness now, so head over to PSSverige to check it out! Its in Swedish as always. Hoping I’ll be able to get Batman: Arkham Origins later this month. Thinking of getting it as a birthday gift to myself, my birthday is on the 27th October. Two days after Batman is released, so why not?
And for those wondering I am turning the big tree zero! Not that I really care or that it’ll change me. :)

But the biggest gift I am giving myself, both birthday and Christmas is the PlayStation 4. Its only about 46 days left until it is released here in Sweden. Really looking forward to it, I am getting Knack and probably Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for it. But I am very interested in the LEGO Marvel game, it looks like real fun in co-op mode.

We’ll now I am going to try and get some more rest and hopefully feel better tomorrow. Gotta get better for next week a bunch of stuff happening at.work then, I’m going to Lund for two daya and extend my knowledge to teach people the work I do. Well more about that at a later time perhaps. G’nite all!

Some games I want #1

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
RELEASE: Early 2014 (EU & US)
Just recently announced, a Tales of Symphonia HD collection. Containing both the first and second game. Will be released on Playstation 3 early 2014 in Europe and America! YEAH!!
I love Tales of Symphonia and getting a confirmation that we’ll be getting a HD collecting and a confirmation that it will be released in Europe, is probably the best thing I’ve heard in a while. God I am looking forward to this, I just love Tales of Symphonia and I own both original games. But I’ll be so over this collection. DAY ONE!!!

Batman: Arkham Origins
RELEASE: October 25th (EU)
The third game in the Arkham series, is also the first one in the series. This takes place a few years before Arkham Asylum and Batman is still a rookie. It’s not being developed by Rocksteady either, but I have faith that the new developers will make a good game. I enjoyed the other too Arkham games, so of course I am looking forward to this game too.

Saints Row IV
RELEASE: August 20 (EU)
I loved Saints Row 2, its one of those games I’ve had most fun playing in multiplayer ever! You can search my site for old posts on how fun I’ve had with it. So of course when number three came around I needed that. And while I didn’t enjoy it as much as SR2, it was still a pretty fun game.
And now part four takes the outrageousness from SR3 and just keeps building on it, so I hope they improve the multiplayer to allow three people to play together in this. That alone would make this a super great game.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (To be rebranded FFVX?)
RELEASE: Who knows?
Probably the my most anticipated title with the name Final Fantasy. Its been in development for years and people are starting to question if we’ll ever see it. There are various rumors around the game. One says it will be rebranded into Final Fantasy XV (15) which I personally think is a smart plan, get rid of it’s ties with FFXIII and can make it feel somewhat fresh again. It’s also said it has jumped platform, from being a PS3 exclusive to now be a PS4 exclusive, makes sense. Either way, this coming E3 will hopefully bring some light on the situation.

Ducktales Remastered
RELEASE: Sometime this summer
A remastered version of a game I loved as a kid, that looks like the TV-show I loved as a kid. With voices from the show. Where do I sign up!? When this was announced I could hardly believe my eyes, OMG!
There will be some other new stuff in the game too, like you are able to visit Scrooges vault and take a swim in all that money. A new introduction level I think, either way this is one classic I really want to play again. A shame that it will probably be beaten within two hours.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix
RELEASE: September 13th (EU)
Hehe, this list is filled with many old games in new packages isn’t it? But there are some new stuff for us in Europe in this Kingdom Hearts collection. We’ll get the previously unreleased PS2 version of Chain of Memories and we will be getting the Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts 1. That alone is awesome! And with the improved camera and controls in the game, this will be a pleasure to play again.

The next generation
Later this year we will enter the 8th(?) generation of game consoles and hopefully it will bring with it a bunch of new and fun stuff. Not to much motion controllers I hope, unless they are better than what has been and you use it for something fun. Well Microsoft in my opinion has already dropped the ball with this no used game stuff, or borrow from friends.
I can honestly say without borrowing a few games from my friends there are certain game-series I would never have played myself. Or missed because they initially didn’t interest me. I sure hope Sony doesn’t go the same way, then the future would be very sad. But I am still looking forward to the games, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will announce at E3. I think this could be the best E3 we’ve had in a while, I think this is also my 7 year watching E3 live. Its a tradition for me now, I will not miss it!

Where to find some spare time?

I have been so busy this month I haven’t had time or energy to do something fun. Well in a way it is fun to be occupied since you always have stuff to do, the downer is that you become to tired to actually want to do anything later.
In the somewhat brief periods of time I’ve had, I have been playing Okami HD. And I enjoyed it very much, much more than I thought I would. It felt like a Zelda game at times and that it not all too shabby. But thanks to the atmosphere, the music and the time period of the game it made me really want to replay Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. The N64 game is one of my favorite games of all time, so fun and such great music. Ahhh…

Next weekend me and my buddy Elden are starting a new gaming marathon. We will be playing through all of the Mega Man X games! Probably not MMX Command Mission though. Looking forward to that, I have had an MMX itch for some time now and it’s time give that itch a scratch. Itches love scratches. Yeah… That was bad.

But speaking of Zelda, I was thrilled to hear that Nintendo is going to release a new Zelda game set in the same world/universe as A Link to The Past. It got me a bit hyped, since ALTTP is still my favorite Zelda game. We have also gotten a date for the upcoming Deadpool game. It will be released on June 28, so that is one game I gotta have. Then Tales of Xillia on August 9th and then in October I’ll be getting Batman: Arkham Origin. And this year we’ll enter a new console generation, that’s always exciting.
