Metal Gear Solid V has taken my time

Since the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, I’ve spent a lot of time with it. I think I’m closer to 50 hours or so now. And I’m still not at the end, all the side-ops in the game has really taken my time. It’s easy to get lost there and just roam around and collect and Fulton stuff.

So that must means I really dig the game, right? Well not necessarily. I’m not sure what I think of the game right now to be honest. I’ve had some enjoyable moments in the game, but I wish there was more story, more cutscenes. You know like a regular Metal Gear Solid game and I would have loved to have some iconic bosses. Seemed like those died together with Metal Gear Solid 3, a damn shame!
Sure the game is good, just not as good as I hoped so far. I’m not a fan of the mission style, it works but I don’t like it for the story mode, I guess that’s why I never got into Peace Walker either. I’ll see what I think about the game, when I have finished it. That’s when my final verdict for a game is formed. If the ending is totally crap it can ruin a game for me, then it becomes more along the lines of “What am I fighting for!?“. The ending is my reward, it has to feel fulfilling, sure if the game has been fun and is good I won’t dis it just because of the ending.
I’ll write more about MGSV later, both what I liked and what I hated and I’ll try to make it spoiler free.

In other news it has been a slow month, but that’s okay. Looking forward to next month with three games I’m very excited for. Transformers: Devastation, Dragon Quest Heroes and of course Tales of Zestiria. Fun times are ahead for me at least.
And today I picked up my 20th anniversary controller, I just love this thing to death. So much nostalgia for me, just because of the PlayStation grey color. Now Nintendo should release a Pro controller that is NES or SNES inspired. I would have to get them, because of reasons.

I must clairyfy that the touchpad does not look like this when you buy it! I bought an sticker to go over the touchpad to protect it from fingerprints and I wanted to have the 20th anniversary logos on there. Just so you know and I put caps on my sticks to protect them too, I don’t want to risk the sticks falling apart.

Mega good time

I downloaded the Mega Man Legacy Collection for the PlayStation 4 last night, so I’ve been playing that all day. I’ve made my way through Mega Man 1-3.
All games I’ve beaten in the past, but it was fun returning to them, so it is going to be extra fun when I start playing Mega Man 4-6, since I’ve never played them before. Hopefully I like them too, but who knows. At least I’ll be going into those games with no knowledge of weaknesses or stuff like that.

Other than playing Mega Man games things have been pretty quite, not much has happened. Well there is a big thing that is happening in my life, something I will go deeper into later. Why not now? I feel like each time I talk about something good, before it has started something always comes in the way and screws with it. I’m not taking any chances now, but it will be something that is good for me and might possible lead me to actually try and go and visit friends that live far away from me. (No, I’m sadly not getting a drives license. But I wish I was.)
Well I won’t be able to spend money on stuff, for the upcoming future at least.

But it’s worth it. And I’m lucky I’ve used my local GameStops trade-in deals, to preorder all the stuff I wanted this year anyway. So I’m all set! I’m awaiting a DualShock 4 20th Anniversary edition, Tales of Zestiria, Dragon Quest Heroes and Transformers: Devastation. I’m set for the rest of the year.
And hopefully I’ll get Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, tomorrow in the mail. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I’ve also done some work on my site, mostly stuff you wouldn’t think twice about. Fixing old posts, that had missing pictures. Sadly couldn’t fix all since some photos I don’t have anymore. But everything under the hood of the site is more streamlined for me.

Revenging the past

Hehe, the title might sound worse than it really is. The meaning with revenging is that I finally took care of a game that has been in my backlog since I started to play JRPG’s. A game that has been bugging me for years, a game I played when I was very new to JRPG’s and I couldn’t finish it. That game is Suikoden 1 for the PlayStation. So that felt very great, I did actually manage to get to the last boss when I played the game all those years ago. But I could never beat him, guess that’s what it’s like being new at something. Because he was no match for me, I took him down fairly easy. I’m almost disappointed in how easy it was and I don’t think I was overleveled either. Around level 57 with most of the characters I used.

A few hours into the game And here we are at the end

And speaking of the past, today I have my 8th anniversary on WordPress. I started writing in the beginning of 2006, on Blogger and Livejournal. Sadly I forgot to save those early posts when I moved around to different blogs. So I’ve been writing for about 9years all in all, but what exactly does this have to do with the past? Well you see I started writing blogs as a way for me to went my feelings and stuff, since it was hard talking about various things with friends and others not being so understanding of my problems and condition. And I loved videogames, so I thought “Why the hell not write about what’s bothering me and what I love”?
I don’t write for anyone else but me, if others want to read and comment that is just a big bonus. But I do this so I can feel good. I can release my dark thoughts in text and get them out of my head, I haven’t written about everything. But pretty much and it has really helpt me to let go of some stuff.

So I am going to continue writing as long as I enjoy doing it and as long as it helps me, I do wish I took my times with some of my posts sometimes and made them bigger and better for other to read. But hey, as I said I’m writing for myself first and foremost. But who knows what will happen in the future?
I would like to write more about the anime shows I’m watching and go a bit more in depth in videogames, but then again we’ll see. Would that be something you would be interested in reading?

Finally some free time

Four the past four weeks I’ve been in charge of some stuff where I work, it was very fun and educational. I took up on this offer since the person originally in charge of this was on vacation. And yesterday was my last day working with that I am doing my regular work this weekend and after that, I have three days off. It is time to recharge the batteries and just take it easy and then return to my regular working routines. Everyone involved in this has been super helpful, thanks everyone. As I said it was fun, but it is going to be a bit of relief not having all that responsibility on my shoulders.

The sad part is that I have almost played no videogames for the past four weeks either. Not as much as I would have liked, since I’ve been to tired to actually take my time and sit down and play. But at the same time that has also been a pretty nice break, because soon Metal Gear Solid V is here and then it’s October with a ton of games, so I have a lot to play in the upcoming months. Just about two months away from the release of Tales of Zestiria and man I’m just getting more and more pumped for that game. I want it now! And then we have Dragon Quest Heroes and Transformers: Devastation.

I’ve also had the displeasure of seeing the new Fantastic Four movie. I’m one of those people who usually enjoy “bad” movies, the movies everyone else hate. But no, not this one. This was a big pile of… Yeah, I’m not exactly what. But this movie was terrible. It had some good idea thought, but they never made anything with them. The movie wasn’t that long but it felt like it was never going to end.
I’ve watched Terminator Genisys too and that was much better, I enjoyed it. Even if the trailers already spoiled one of the major stuff in the movie. The one who made the trailer and the one who greenlit the trailer to be released should be fired.
Anyone have any good tips on movies or tv-shows to watch? I need something new to watch.

Beaten games 2015: Part 1

So I thought I was going to make a little list of the games I’ve beaten so far this year and write a little something about them. I will list ten games on this list at a time, that way the list won’t be to long and I can perhaps write a little more about certain games, not sure I will though since this, will just reflect some simple thoughts about the games. If anyone wants to know more of what I think of a game, I can write in the comments. The dates by the name is the date I beat the game.

01: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition [ 2015-01-01 ]
I was never a fan of the original Tomb Rider series, but this rebooted series really clicked with me. So much that I had finished the last gen version of this game and I had to play the current gen version too. I don’t replay games that often, but this was so good. A great way to start the year.

02: Tales of Symphonia Dawn of The New World HD [ 2015-01-10 ]
In my opinion it is a much weaker game than its predecessor, but I don’t think it’s flat out bad as so many others do. I had fun with the game, Martha is great!

03: The Wolf Among Us [ 2015-01-15 ]
Bigsby is one cool wolf. I really liked the story in this game, it might not have been anything special but it was fun seeing fairytale creatures hide in our world like regular humans.

04: Super Princess Peach [ 2015-02-01 ]
Move over Mario! It’s time for Peach to kick some butt! And she sure kicked it hard. A pretty typical Mario platformer game, really nice to see Peach being the star and not being kidnapped for once.

05: Transistor [ 2015-02-22 ]
I’ve heard people say so many great thing about this game, so of course I had to try it. But I honestly don’t see why people like this game. I didn’t really enjoy it while I was playing and wanted it mostly to end, sorry folks. This was the first disappointment of the year for me..

06: Wolfenstein: The New Order [ 2015-03-08 ]
Those who might have read what I’ve written before, know I’m not a fan of FPS but I got this one recommend from a friend who also didn’t like FPS. I must say I was really surprised! I had a blast with this game, it was fun and it was pretty nice to play something else than only JRPGs. A breath of fresh air for me.

07: Wild Arms 5 [ 2015-03-22 ]
And speaking about playing only JRPG’s… I wanted to finish this game for sometime and when I did I felt a bit empty, the game starts out great but I think it slowly goes downhill from there. Don’t get me wrong it is a good game, it just didn’t reach all the way to the end for me. Still hope we’ll see a Wild Arms 6 one day.

08: Saints Row: Gat out of Hell [ 2015-03-23 ]
Chaos, mayhem and destruction. A few words to describe the Saints Row series as of late, Gat out of Hell was short, very, very short. But it game some enjoyment, like punching Satan right in the face.

09: Metroid: Zero Mission [ 2015-04-03 ]
This was actually my very first Metroid game and I really liked it. It was enjoyable from start to finish, well the Zero Mission part was a bit frustrating, but enjoyable. We’ll see if I’ll ever finish Metroid Fusion.

10: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD [ 2015-04-04 ]
Me and my pal played thought the entire game together, it was really fun I must say. This was also my very first time clearing the game, I sadly lost all interest in the original when it came to gather the Triforce pieces. I am a bit ashamed of that, but at least I finished it, this time around

Batman: Arkham Knight & Tales of Zestiria

So for the past week I’ve been playing Batman: Arkham Knight for the
PlayStation 4. Such a great game, I had some troubles putting the controller down. Like yesterday I played for about 15hours straight! Well I took miniature pauses for food and other visits, if ya get my drift. The worst (best) part is that it didn’t feel like I spent such a long time with the game, the day just flew by and I haven’t done gaming in one sitting like this in years! Mostly I’ve just gotten 2-3hours in one sitting.

I did really like the game, but I’m a tad sad that the batmobile takes up a bit too much space. I can’t go into detail on what exactly what I mean, since I would then have to spoil some stuff and I’m NOT going to do that. All in all it was a good game and a good ending to Rocksteady’s Arkham trilogy, I’m please that Rocksteady acknowledges the stuff that happened in Arkham Origins even if they didn’t make the game themselves.
I just have some Riddler stuff left (almost all of it) and I’ll see if I will give them ago, probably not. But if would be nice, since there is a surprise… ;)

And in other news Bandai Namco today announced the Collectors Edition for
Tales of Zestiria, it’s more or less the same version as the Japanese CE. A shame that the will bring the ToZ OVA over, but on a DVD. You would think they would put it on a blu-ray for the PS3 and PS4. You’ll get a cloth artwork, steelbook, 4 Chibi Kyun figures, hardcover arbook, selected soundtrack cd and a big old box to put everything in. I’m still thinking about getting this or not, some great stuff, but I would have preferred a figure like Milla or Ludger from Tales of Xillia 1 & 2.

Some retailers will offer some Tales of Cameo costumes! I need them, I must have them! So hopefully my local GameStop will be able to offer these costumes. If you get the game digitally you will get them regardless. I’m not sure if this is true even for the steam version of the game, but I would be surprised if you didn’t get them there too. And speaking of steam, they are going to release Tales of Symphonia HD on steam next year. If a lot of people preorder Tales of Zestiria on steam and they hit a certain mark, those who preordered ToZ will get ToSHD for free. Not bad, not bad.

So what is next for me in line of games? We’ll I’m looking forward to
Onechanbara Z2 Chaos which is coming out the Juli 21 in the US. Guess it will be imported since we still don’t have a date in Europe and I want to be sure to get a physical copy. After that its time for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in September, then in October I have no idea how I’m going to find time to play all the games I want. Dragon Quest Heroes, Tales of Zestiria, Transformers: Devastation. Ugh. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is something I’ll be getting later, since I do not have the time and I’m pretty sure it will sell well either way. There are probably so many more games I’ve missed and for now that is okay, I don’t need to remember them all. That would only be more trouble for me. Hehe.
What did you say? I don’t have to get all the games at once? I can wait? What are you saying dear sir/madam? You crazy. O.O

Transformers: Devastation, I need it!

It’s leaking! It’s leaking! Plug the damn hole! It really is a shame when some of E3’s surprises leak out beforehand. And Transformers: Devastation is one such game that leaked out. Said to be developed by Platinum Games it is a Transformers G1 brawler and it looks fantastic!! I can hardly wait until we see it in action! BestBuy had posted some info on the game a bit too early, it will be released on PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It will feature 5 playable Autobots, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Sideswipe and Grimlock. I’m hoping we can play as Decepticons too!

The game is cel-shaded and can be one of the prettiest cel-shaded games I’ve seen. It really is a fantastic look for a Transformers game. I have high hopes for this one, this really is a game I didn’t know I wanted. But man, I really want it now! I hope it turns out good and it will be met with success to ensure more G1 Transformers games. And Peter Cullen and Frank Welker are to return to voice Optimus and Megatron. The way it should be. Man, I’m so hyped for this. Hopefully when the game is officially announced we’ll get a trailer too.

This is really the kind of stuff I need after the in my opinion terrible TV-show, Transformers: Robots in Disguise. I can’t stand it, we went from Transformers Prime to that. Yeah, okay sure. Transformers Prime set the bar very high, but still… They could have produced something better than that. Sigh. Now a G1 revival type of show with the animated style of this game, now that is something I would do terrible things to have.
