The games I’ve played this year

This year is coming to an end, I feel like I won’t have much more time to play any other games that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 before the year is over. So I thought I would post about the games I’ve played and beaten this year. There are some games I’ve played for a few hours, but they won’t be in this list.
I’ll only list the games that I’ve beaten, I’ve finished 43 games this year and that feels fantastic. Last year it was 38 games finished so as I said it felt fantastic to have finished so many games. Not only did I get to play more compared to last year, I felt like I had more fun playing games than I’ve had in a long time.
Looking forward to all the great games I’ll be playing next year, I sure do hope I can squeeze in some titles from this year that I didn’t get a chance to play.

I wanted to write something about each game, but I didn’t make any notes while playing them and I’m not sure I remember all the games right. So I will not say something about them, because I could be misremembering what i felt and thought about the game at the time.

Then what game would I consider my Game Of The Year? Well… I’ll have to get back to you on that one, since I’m currently playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and having a blast with that and really enjoying it, it is a strong contender for me.
But then again this year has been filled with so many great games! It’s so hard to choose just one title.

Tales of Destiny PS1 vs PS2

So I’ve slowly started playing Tales of Destiny for the the PlayStation 1, I haven’t played it much before. So I was hoping I could play through it before Tales of Zestiria comes out, but that will probably not happen. Mostly because I will probably not have much time to play, but I’ll try to get at least one hour in there each day. Perhaps if I don’t wait until I can play the fan-translated PS2 version.

I’ve just played the intro bit of the game, got Dymlos, met Garr and that. And that’s when I decided to open my Japanese copy of Tales of Destiny for the PlayStation 2. Just to check out what’s different. A bit of me wish I didn’t, because I’m going to have a hard time returning to the original version now.
I played to the exact same spot in the PS2 version and it was like day and night. Not that the PS1 version is bad, it’s just the PS2 version is much approved on!
The battles are way better and they’ve skipped the usage of TP, instead they use the CC system like in Graces. And I’m a much bigger fan of that than being limited to a certain amount of TP. The game has skits, something the original sadly does not.
The battles system and what I could see was vastly improved upon, hard to say how much when I just played so little. But enough to really question me to continue with the PS1 version.

Tales of Destiny [PlayStation 1] Tales of Destiny [PlayStation 2]

After playing the PS2 version I got really sad that Bandai Namco never released them in west, but I sure hope they can release a collection with both Tales of Destiny games on it.
They don’t have to dub it (thought it would be nice), but just translate it and give it too us. Much like they did with Tales of Hearts R.
Now I’m just eagerly awaiting the fan-translation and hope it will be finished in the not to distant future. I really want to play the game and understand what’s going on.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but the original PlayStation game is still nice and I am going to play it. But after the PS2 version I’m just not as eager, I’d rather way a while and play the definitve version of the game and focus on other games right now.

Beaten games 2015: Part 1

So I thought I was going to make a little list of the games I’ve beaten so far this year and write a little something about them. I will list ten games on this list at a time, that way the list won’t be to long and I can perhaps write a little more about certain games, not sure I will though since this, will just reflect some simple thoughts about the games. If anyone wants to know more of what I think of a game, I can write in the comments. The dates by the name is the date I beat the game.

01: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition [ 2015-01-01 ]
I was never a fan of the original Tomb Rider series, but this rebooted series really clicked with me. So much that I had finished the last gen version of this game and I had to play the current gen version too. I don’t replay games that often, but this was so good. A great way to start the year.

02: Tales of Symphonia Dawn of The New World HD [ 2015-01-10 ]
In my opinion it is a much weaker game than its predecessor, but I don’t think it’s flat out bad as so many others do. I had fun with the game, Martha is great!

03: The Wolf Among Us [ 2015-01-15 ]
Bigsby is one cool wolf. I really liked the story in this game, it might not have been anything special but it was fun seeing fairytale creatures hide in our world like regular humans.

04: Super Princess Peach [ 2015-02-01 ]
Move over Mario! It’s time for Peach to kick some butt! And she sure kicked it hard. A pretty typical Mario platformer game, really nice to see Peach being the star and not being kidnapped for once.

05: Transistor [ 2015-02-22 ]
I’ve heard people say so many great thing about this game, so of course I had to try it. But I honestly don’t see why people like this game. I didn’t really enjoy it while I was playing and wanted it mostly to end, sorry folks. This was the first disappointment of the year for me..

06: Wolfenstein: The New Order [ 2015-03-08 ]
Those who might have read what I’ve written before, know I’m not a fan of FPS but I got this one recommend from a friend who also didn’t like FPS. I must say I was really surprised! I had a blast with this game, it was fun and it was pretty nice to play something else than only JRPGs. A breath of fresh air for me.

07: Wild Arms 5 [ 2015-03-22 ]
And speaking about playing only JRPG’s… I wanted to finish this game for sometime and when I did I felt a bit empty, the game starts out great but I think it slowly goes downhill from there. Don’t get me wrong it is a good game, it just didn’t reach all the way to the end for me. Still hope we’ll see a Wild Arms 6 one day.

08: Saints Row: Gat out of Hell [ 2015-03-23 ]
Chaos, mayhem and destruction. A few words to describe the Saints Row series as of late, Gat out of Hell was short, very, very short. But it game some enjoyment, like punching Satan right in the face.

09: Metroid: Zero Mission [ 2015-04-03 ]
This was actually my very first Metroid game and I really liked it. It was enjoyable from start to finish, well the Zero Mission part was a bit frustrating, but enjoyable. We’ll see if I’ll ever finish Metroid Fusion.

10: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD [ 2015-04-04 ]
Me and my pal played thought the entire game together, it was really fun I must say. This was also my very first time clearing the game, I sadly lost all interest in the original when it came to gather the Triforce pieces. I am a bit ashamed of that, but at least I finished it, this time around

My updated Xenosaga collection

Hello ya all! I’ve finally updated my Xenosaga Collections part of this site. I’ve gotten some new stuff since the last update I did in 2009, so I thought why not update now. And this will probably be the last update/addition to my collection, I feel like I have the stuff I want right now.
Sure there are a couple of more things I’d like to have, but only if I can get them cheap. And I mean really cheap, but we’ll see what the future holds.

It’s been fun collection all these things since 2003-2004, I think that was when I started to collect Xenosaga stuff. So what is next then? Will there be something to collect next? I’m not sure actually, I’ve been thinking of trying to get a hold of all Tales of games that have been released in English. That’s not a very hard thing to do, so I might do that. Since I really love the Tales of games too. So among the games I want to get are, Tales of Destiny, Eternia, Symphonia, Symphonia 2 and so on. But all that’s still in the future, we’ll see. Nothing has been decided and right now I do not have the economy to build any sort of collection. But when I do, it would be kind of nice to get a nice collection of NES and SNES games. Start a little bit of retro collecting… Ahh! Well I can always dream.

Dance little man, dance!

I got a  dance mat and dance game for my PS2 as a birthday gift, from one of my friends. I had been wanting to play one of those dancing games again. And today I took it out and gave it a try.
Damn! It wa fun, but hard! So I am going to need a lot of practice and training. Well at lest I’ll have something to look forward too. Hehe, my legs hurt a bit now. Going to try and get some more time with the game tomorrow, hopefully I can give it at least 30-40 minutes a day. It will be good training and a good workout.
Gotta find more dance games that’s released in Europe for the PS2, preferably games that contain Japanese music. Since I enjoy dancing to them and they have a great beat.
So If you have anything to recommend, I’ll gladly take all tips.

Anime: Tales of The Abyss

This anime is based on Bandai Namco’s game with the same name. Which is one great game, if  I do say so myself.. Without a doubt this is the best anime based on a Tales of game. Both the Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Symphonia animes, where to short. And a lot of material was scraped from them. Both ToP & ToS only had four episodes each to tell there story on. As you can guess, its not enough.
But it is said that ToS will get 4 additional episodes, that will show the Tethe’alla side of the story. And of course. They have an anime based on Tales of Eternia too. It has 12-13 episodes. At least its better than four episodes. But only 2-3 of those episode follow the games, after that it takes a turn for something new.
New story, new enemies and of course new allies. So I was a bit dissapointed.

And then we have Tales of the Abyss. Finally Bandai Namco did a whole lot of stuff right with this anime. One of the smartest thinsg they did with the anime was to keep the game’s intro song Karma, by Bump of Chicken.
The series is 26 episodes long. Which I see as the best part of all. And so far, the anime has followed the game very closely. No new characters, no extra comedy parts added, no trying to make the story better parts either. And I like that they aren’t changeing anything to the story of adding stuff. A bunch of videogames that turns into anime change a few things and I almost always hate that. For some this could be a pretty boring anime, since it follows the game very closely. Its the anime that has stayed most faithful to its videogame conuterpart. That I’ve seen at least.

I’m not going to go much deeper into ToTA anime, if you haven’t played the game but want to. Wait with the anime. If you don’t care about the game, but want to know what its about. Go ahead. And I think everyone who liked the game should watch the anime.
Sure it might not bring anything new to the table, but I’lm just glad I’m able to see Jade in action again. It has also been confirmed that the newest game Tales of Vesperia is getting an anime movie. I really hope I get to play the game before that one is released. I’m also hoping if Tales of The Abyss anime is ever released in the US, that they use the voiceactors from the game. If they do, I will buy this anime.

Merry christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you’ve all had a great day. I don’t know if I can say the days was great, since it feels like any other day of the year. Yeah, I really don’t care for Christmas that much anymore. You could say I’m a bit like Scrooge. I just wish I had his money too. >_>

Well I got a new Playstation 2 from everyone in the family. Thank you all. And I also got a very nice gift from nordiclania. Prince of Persia for the PS3. Thank you so very much, I really appreciate it. I’m gonna take a picture and update the site with it later. So check back later for pics. Oh and I might be getting another present later in January. I’m saying might, so I don’t get my hope up to much, if by some chance something should screw up. Until then I’ll keep my mouth shut on that matter. =)

In other news, its good that this damn year soon is over. I’m hoping 2009 will bring better stuff. And not be as miserable as this year had turned out to be. Gonna have a meeting with Arbetsförmedlingen on the January 8th. Hoping they will have something good to say. Well I am fearing that they might put me in a school like place again. I got that impression when I where there and signed some papers a couple of days back… Hoping its not true. Well enough of that crap right now.

Merry Christmas everybody!

The Xenosaga figurine is an old gift, but it was a combined birthday and Christmas present from my friend ZX-Omega. So I’m posting it again.
