E3 2013: Nintendo

And so it’s time for Nintendo, and what to say about Nintendo? There wasn’t much that had my interest. Super Mario 3D World looked like good old Mario fun. But there where no real megatons for me, no announce or an eventual price-drop.
Well they did say that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD will be released in October, so for all who wants that should really buy it. Even if you don’t want it, buy it.

For me the best things of this Nintendo Direct E3 was the new trailer shown for Monolith Softwares new game “X“. I love those guys for the Xenosaga series and I’ll follow just about anything they do, really looking forward to see more of the game. And hopefully get the name reveal, unless it’s real name is just X. And duh! Bayonetta 2 looked pretty sick! She looked really good in shorter hair, and the game looked as outrageous as the first one. So it will probably be just as good.

And then they showed the new Super Smash Bros for both Wii U and 3DS, it looked like really good fun. But I was a tad disappointed until they showed the NEW CHALLENGER, after that I was more or less sold. So I am greatly looking forward to see more of that game and what new characters will appear in it. It’s… Mega Man!!!

E3 2013: Sony

I was going to make this post right after Sony’s event, but I was too damn tired. Tired but very pleased! While Microsoft seems to have made all the wrong decisions regarding its Xbox One console, Sony has made all the right ones. At least the right ones for us, the consumers in my opinion. I loved seeing this cocky Sony, really ridiculing Microsoft’s console. They have confirmed it will have no Online DRM, or any DRM for that matter. You can buy used games and share them with your friends just like you can today on the PS3 and the console will be region-free. Just just exactly as the PS3 there and for me those are all important stuff.
But that is not all! They won’t be repeating their 599dollars mistake with the Playstation 3, they will launch the console at 399$. Making it 100$ cheaper than the Xbox One.
For me Sony did everything right, well almost everything. They fell a bit on the finish line, but this time I’ll forgive it and actually pay up. But that is only due to all the other positive stuff about the PS4. Online multiplayer won’t be free anymore, you’ll need a Playstation Plus account in order to play online with your friends. Which is a damn shame, if that had been free then Sony would  have won flawlessly over Microsoft.

Yeah, sorry to sound like a fanboy. I am not, I like every console. I’m just so tired of all the “wrong” choices Microsoft seems to have made with he Xbox One.  Well then, let’s continue on to the games. As just about everyone expected Final Fantasy Versus XIII made it’s appearance and confirmation to be a PS4 game now, and as everyone (?) thought it has been renamed to Final Fantasy XV. Square Enix will also release Final Fantasy XIV on the PS4 also, so I might just check that game out later. But the biggest surprise was, Kingdom Hearts 3!! Hot damn! I did not expect that honestly, that was a great surprise.
Knack is looking like a nice little title and it will be a release game, so I might just get that. I am disappointed that Infamous: Second Son won’t be a release game, I really wanted that game with the console.

E3 2013: Microsoft

So… I just watched Microsoft’s E3 conference, well I wasn’t expecting much. And sadly there was nothing for me there, I think I was most smitten with Project Spark, it looked like a lot of fun. Other than that, I thought it was pretty meh. I was interested in Quantum Break, but it ended so soon and didn’t show much more than a little CG-trailer.

They announced a new revision of the Xbox 360, with a look that is very similar to that of Xbox One. I don’t know if that is very smart, might get a few parents confused. But let’s hope it good and as quite as they said it would be, if they are cheap I might pick one up in the future. There are still some X360 games I would like to play.

Other than that, I didn’t think they had any good surprises. It was mostly FPS or stuff that I have no particular interest in, sure the games where pretty and a few of them looked really nice. But they are just not for me. The Witcher 3 looked great as hell, but I have not played the other two games. Hope to fix that some day, since they look like really great games and I’ve only heard good stuff about them.
Oh, yeah right. Dead Rising 3 looked pretty okay, I’m not sure what to think about it yet. It seemed to be much more serious than it’s predecessors, which I’m not sure if I like. Of course it could just be that specific part in the video that was show, that are like that. But naaa, it didn’t really get me. Maybe I am tired of zombies?

So yeah, I’m not cheering for Xbox One, anytime soon but I just loved the new Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain trailer, my god! I haven’t been this interested in a MGS game since MGS3. So I am definitely looking forward to that.

Tales of Xillia official trailer released

Gamespot has put up a new trailer of Tales of Xillia, so I wanted to share it with people here. God I am so hyped for this game! Just two months away until I can play this game, I am getting really hyped now! So much that I started playing Tales of Graces f again and took a few more trophies in it. Hehe, might go for the platinum trophy. ;)

Some games I want #1

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
RELEASE: Early 2014 (EU & US)
Just recently announced, a Tales of Symphonia HD collection. Containing both the first and second game. Will be released on Playstation 3 early 2014 in Europe and America! YEAH!!
I love Tales of Symphonia and getting a confirmation that we’ll be getting a HD collecting and a confirmation that it will be released in Europe, is probably the best thing I’ve heard in a while. God I am looking forward to this, I just love Tales of Symphonia and I own both original games. But I’ll be so over this collection. DAY ONE!!!

Batman: Arkham Origins
RELEASE: October 25th (EU)
The third game in the Arkham series, is also the first one in the series. This takes place a few years before Arkham Asylum and Batman is still a rookie. It’s not being developed by Rocksteady either, but I have faith that the new developers will make a good game. I enjoyed the other too Arkham games, so of course I am looking forward to this game too.

Saints Row IV
RELEASE: August 20 (EU)
I loved Saints Row 2, its one of those games I’ve had most fun playing in multiplayer ever! You can search my site for old posts on how fun I’ve had with it. So of course when number three came around I needed that. And while I didn’t enjoy it as much as SR2, it was still a pretty fun game.
And now part four takes the outrageousness from SR3 and just keeps building on it, so I hope they improve the multiplayer to allow three people to play together in this. That alone would make this a super great game.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (To be rebranded FFVX?)
RELEASE: Who knows?
Probably the my most anticipated title with the name Final Fantasy. Its been in development for years and people are starting to question if we’ll ever see it. There are various rumors around the game. One says it will be rebranded into Final Fantasy XV (15) which I personally think is a smart plan, get rid of it’s ties with FFXIII and can make it feel somewhat fresh again. It’s also said it has jumped platform, from being a PS3 exclusive to now be a PS4 exclusive, makes sense. Either way, this coming E3 will hopefully bring some light on the situation.

Ducktales Remastered
RELEASE: Sometime this summer
A remastered version of a game I loved as a kid, that looks like the TV-show I loved as a kid. With voices from the show. Where do I sign up!? When this was announced I could hardly believe my eyes, OMG!
There will be some other new stuff in the game too, like you are able to visit Scrooges vault and take a swim in all that money. A new introduction level I think, either way this is one classic I really want to play again. A shame that it will probably be beaten within two hours.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix
RELEASE: September 13th (EU)
Hehe, this list is filled with many old games in new packages isn’t it? But there are some new stuff for us in Europe in this Kingdom Hearts collection. We’ll get the previously unreleased PS2 version of Chain of Memories and we will be getting the Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts 1. That alone is awesome! And with the improved camera and controls in the game, this will be a pleasure to play again.

The next generation
Later this year we will enter the 8th(?) generation of game consoles and hopefully it will bring with it a bunch of new and fun stuff. Not to much motion controllers I hope, unless they are better than what has been and you use it for something fun. Well Microsoft in my opinion has already dropped the ball with this no used game stuff, or borrow from friends.
I can honestly say without borrowing a few games from my friends there are certain game-series I would never have played myself. Or missed because they initially didn’t interest me. I sure hope Sony doesn’t go the same way, then the future would be very sad. But I am still looking forward to the games, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will announce at E3. I think this could be the best E3 we’ve had in a while, I think this is also my 7 year watching E3 live. Its a tradition for me now, I will not miss it!

Tales of Symphonia HD is true!!

A while ago, I reported about a rumor that there perhaps was a Tales of Symphonia HD Collection coming. And that it would include Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia Dawn of The New World and today this pack was announced to be true!! This collection will be called Tales of Symphonia Unisonant Pack and will be released October 10th. This was all announced just right now in an event in Japan called Tales of Festival.

Right now I am so very hyped! I actually cried a little bit when I saw this announcement, guess that just proves to me how much I really liked Symphonia. Well it was my first Tales of game and it sure was love at first sight. The opening song too Tales of Symphonia “Starry Heavens” will be getting a new version, a 2013 remix if you will. Same with ToS2 opening song.

And to top it of, as I was writing this we got confirmation that this collection will be released in Europe and America early 2014!! My god! This has been the best day of this entire week for me I am so goddamn happy right now. Long live the Tales of series!!
It seems the collection will go under the name
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles in Europe and America, a name I think is a bit better than Unisonant Pack or just HD Collection that some developers just call their HD versions.

Lunar SSH, not what I hoped…

I’ve been playing RPGs now since 1999 and it all started with Lunar Silver Star Story for Playstation 1. I have said this a thousand times, that it was my very first jrpg. And love at first sight, everything was so new to me and it felt great. I had a very hard time at that point in my life, I didn’t know if I wanted to continue living… It was bad, but Lunar SSSC changed that for a bit. I found the adventures that jrpg had to be most filling, at least filling a part if me that continued to cary on. So the Lunar series helped me with some of my problems, so it is indeed a very important game for me.

That is why I am mostly dissapointed with the PSP remake, that came out a couple of years ago. I think ut was also released on IOS fairly recently. I was sad from the start that Gaijin Works (used to be Working Designs) had nothing to do with this new English translation. It really missed all the good stuff, the new voiceactors are trrible in their roles. And I do like the voiceactors, very much so. But not for the characters or Lunar, I feel like they are missing their soul, or something like that.
The PSP version is too easy, I’ve never had any trouble getting through the game. And I did it fast to, it tiok me 22hours… Now this could just have been because the PS1 game was my first jrpg, but it took me 61hours to complete. And I was about 20-30levels higher than I was when facing the last boss in the Ps1 version and I still had problems with him. While I was around level 44 now and beat him with ease.
This can be me having gained more experience in the genre, but I was so dissapointed with the clear time and how easy the boss fell. Now I only feel sad, I do not like this remake. And now I am afraid to play the PS1 version again, I rather have my memory of it being the game I love, than it ending up dissapointing me.

Maybe I have outgrown the series, maybe its just a really crappy remake. Maybe the PS1 version is equally as bad? I honestly don’t want to think so and I don’t want to find out. I’ll keep the warm memory of the game untarnished and continue to love it like I used to. I’m not picking up the PSP version again at least.
Ahh… I really needed to clear my head from all these thoughts.
