My winner of E3 2013

The big three has had their E3 conferences and now it’s time for me to decide my winner. But if you’ve read my previous posts, I think you can all guess who the winner is. But I’ve slept on it, decided to take in all the impressions and yeah, the winner is pretty clear. And a fair warning, there might be some harsh language so if you can’t handle that, stay away from this post.

SONY
– My winner of E3, they just seemed to hit all the right notes. While they didn’t show anything that I really felt like I needed to buy on the spot, but I am a bit interested in Knack. Other than that, it was just everything else. The energy and “fighting spirit” they seemed to have and pulling all the right cards for consumers. Like no online DRM, you can lend and buy used games and a price of 399dollars. BOOOM! That made it for me, but there are of course other stuff I am waiting for. Like Infamous Second Son, I loved the two other Infamous games and I need this one, hope its just as fun. And then there was the announcement of Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 was awesome! And not to forget Metal Gear Solid V, damn it looks incredible! The three games mentioned are also coming to Xbox One. Which for me was together with some of Nintendo’s announcements the big game bombs for me.

NINTENDO
– While I thought Nintendo’s E3 Direct was boring, they did have some stuff I truly enjoyed. And that’s what snagged them a second place in this listing.
What I would have loved to see was a price-drop of the Wii U, more third party support. Which seems it’s getting less and less of… I am fearing a GameCube 2.0 here. A great machine that just about nobody but Nintendo themselves are supporting, I hope I’m just paranoid. And things will be better once more and better games are out. Like the new Super Smash Brothers and X, god I want those two games. I could easily see myself getting a new Wii U just for those games alone..

MICROSOFT
– Yes, they came in last for me. It just seems like they did everything wrong, really screwing the consumer over. I really enjoy Xbox 360 and think it’s a great console, but with Xbox One they’ve really fucked up. There was nothing of interest shown at their E3 meeting, at least nothing that interested me. And I’m getting really sick of their attitude towards people. Some site interviewed Don Mattrick after E3 and asked him about what people without an internet connection should do? The solution, buy the Xbox 360 it’s an offline machine… So basically telling everyone with a crappy or limited internet connection to go fuck themselves if they want to play next gen… No company should treat their costumers like this, they should really rethink their whole Xbox One policies. Without all the stupid shit they are pulling with the console it would probably be great.

Who did you think won and why? Do you agree or disagree with me? Come on and post then people, I know you are a couple of people who reads this I’d like to have some form of discussion with you! So don’t be shy now, I want to hear what you think.

E3 2013: Nintendo

And so it’s time for Nintendo, and what to say about Nintendo? There wasn’t much that had my interest. Super Mario 3D World looked like good old Mario fun. But there where no real megatons for me, no announce or an eventual price-drop.
Well they did say that The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD will be released in October, so for all who wants that should really buy it. Even if you don’t want it, buy it.

For me the best things of this Nintendo Direct E3 was the new trailer shown for Monolith Softwares new game “X“. I love those guys for the Xenosaga series and I’ll follow just about anything they do, really looking forward to see more of the game. And hopefully get the name reveal, unless it’s real name is just X. And duh! Bayonetta 2 looked pretty sick! She looked really good in shorter hair, and the game looked as outrageous as the first one. So it will probably be just as good.

And then they showed the new Super Smash Bros for both Wii U and 3DS, it looked like really good fun. But I was a tad disappointed until they showed the NEW CHALLENGER, after that I was more or less sold. So I am greatly looking forward to see more of that game and what new characters will appear in it. It’s… Mega Man!!!

E3 2013: Microsoft

So… I just watched Microsoft’s E3 conference, well I wasn’t expecting much. And sadly there was nothing for me there, I think I was most smitten with Project Spark, it looked like a lot of fun. Other than that, I thought it was pretty meh. I was interested in Quantum Break, but it ended so soon and didn’t show much more than a little CG-trailer.

They announced a new revision of the Xbox 360, with a look that is very similar to that of Xbox One. I don’t know if that is very smart, might get a few parents confused. But let’s hope it good and as quite as they said it would be, if they are cheap I might pick one up in the future. There are still some X360 games I would like to play.

Other than that, I didn’t think they had any good surprises. It was mostly FPS or stuff that I have no particular interest in, sure the games where pretty and a few of them looked really nice. But they are just not for me. The Witcher 3 looked great as hell, but I have not played the other two games. Hope to fix that some day, since they look like really great games and I’ve only heard good stuff about them.
Oh, yeah right. Dead Rising 3 looked pretty okay, I’m not sure what to think about it yet. It seemed to be much more serious than it’s predecessors, which I’m not sure if I like. Of course it could just be that specific part in the video that was show, that are like that. But naaa, it didn’t really get me. Maybe I am tired of zombies?

So yeah, I’m not cheering for Xbox One, anytime soon but I just loved the new Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain trailer, my god! I haven’t been this interested in a MGS game since MGS3. So I am definitely looking forward to that.

A bit down, but I have a trophy…

Yeah, I’m not feeling to well right now. Guess it was time for another depression to visit. Huh. I just want to get rid of this whole feeling that is covering me, I don’t like it. I loose all energy and will to do anything, what’s the use.
Hopefully I’ll start feeling better tomorrow when it time to work again, I always seem to steer clear of the dark thoughts when I am working. But we’ll see…

Well in better news at least, tomorrow is the start of E3 and I bet that’ll get me feeling much better. It is exciting this year, can’t wait to see what they’ll be announced. Looking forward to the Playstation 4. I’ll do my usual E3 posts later.

And last but not least. I managed to get the platinum trophy in Tales of Graces f, I never thought I’d go for that. So now there is nothing more for me in that game, a bit sad. But still a nice feeling when you know you’ve done everything in the game. All special bosses and stuff like that.

Some games I want #1

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
RELEASE: Early 2014 (EU & US)
Just recently announced, a Tales of Symphonia HD collection. Containing both the first and second game. Will be released on Playstation 3 early 2014 in Europe and America! YEAH!!
I love Tales of Symphonia and getting a confirmation that we’ll be getting a HD collecting and a confirmation that it will be released in Europe, is probably the best thing I’ve heard in a while. God I am looking forward to this, I just love Tales of Symphonia and I own both original games. But I’ll be so over this collection. DAY ONE!!!

Batman: Arkham Origins
RELEASE: October 25th (EU)
The third game in the Arkham series, is also the first one in the series. This takes place a few years before Arkham Asylum and Batman is still a rookie. It’s not being developed by Rocksteady either, but I have faith that the new developers will make a good game. I enjoyed the other too Arkham games, so of course I am looking forward to this game too.

Saints Row IV
RELEASE: August 20 (EU)
I loved Saints Row 2, its one of those games I’ve had most fun playing in multiplayer ever! You can search my site for old posts on how fun I’ve had with it. So of course when number three came around I needed that. And while I didn’t enjoy it as much as SR2, it was still a pretty fun game.
And now part four takes the outrageousness from SR3 and just keeps building on it, so I hope they improve the multiplayer to allow three people to play together in this. That alone would make this a super great game.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII (To be rebranded FFVX?)
RELEASE: Who knows?
Probably the my most anticipated title with the name Final Fantasy. Its been in development for years and people are starting to question if we’ll ever see it. There are various rumors around the game. One says it will be rebranded into Final Fantasy XV (15) which I personally think is a smart plan, get rid of it’s ties with FFXIII and can make it feel somewhat fresh again. It’s also said it has jumped platform, from being a PS3 exclusive to now be a PS4 exclusive, makes sense. Either way, this coming E3 will hopefully bring some light on the situation.

Ducktales Remastered
RELEASE: Sometime this summer
A remastered version of a game I loved as a kid, that looks like the TV-show I loved as a kid. With voices from the show. Where do I sign up!? When this was announced I could hardly believe my eyes, OMG!
There will be some other new stuff in the game too, like you are able to visit Scrooges vault and take a swim in all that money. A new introduction level I think, either way this is one classic I really want to play again. A shame that it will probably be beaten within two hours.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix
RELEASE: September 13th (EU)
Hehe, this list is filled with many old games in new packages isn’t it? But there are some new stuff for us in Europe in this Kingdom Hearts collection. We’ll get the previously unreleased PS2 version of Chain of Memories and we will be getting the Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts 1. That alone is awesome! And with the improved camera and controls in the game, this will be a pleasure to play again.

The next generation
Later this year we will enter the 8th(?) generation of game consoles and hopefully it will bring with it a bunch of new and fun stuff. Not to much motion controllers I hope, unless they are better than what has been and you use it for something fun. Well Microsoft in my opinion has already dropped the ball with this no used game stuff, or borrow from friends.
I can honestly say without borrowing a few games from my friends there are certain game-series I would never have played myself. Or missed because they initially didn’t interest me. I sure hope Sony doesn’t go the same way, then the future would be very sad. But I am still looking forward to the games, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will announce at E3. I think this could be the best E3 we’ve had in a while, I think this is also my 7 year watching E3 live. Its a tradition for me now, I will not miss it!

One Piece, Travel and stuff

Tomorrow is the day when I will go and participate in a course that make an instructor at work. I am really looking forward to this and this will only help me grow as a person, I have the confidence that I’ll make this. Deep breaths, deep breaths! I am getting a little bit excited and nervous now.

I can hardly wait for June, the month of E3. I am so looking forward to it this year, mostly because of the next generation will start there. Sure the new Xbox will be unveiled tomorrow and Playstation 4 is already confirmed. But it still there all the bombs will drop, at least I think and hope so. It is so exciting to see what both Sony and Microsoft will bring, of course I am looking forward to Nintendo too. But they weren’t supposed to have a big E3 thing? I think I’ve heard something like that being confirmed. Oh, well. Only a few more weeks and then it go time. Good thing I’m free from work since Sony’s conference is in the middle of the night if you go by Swedish time.

I’ve started to play One Piece: Pirate Warriors for Playstation 3, I most say so far I am liking it much more than I though I would. I’ve had good honest fun with that game and it even rekindle some of my interest for the anime, so I might try to give it a go again later. Just need to remember where I stopped watching. Either way, if I continue to like this game the way I do now. I’ll definitely get the sequel when its out.

E3 2012: Nintendo

It seems like this whole E3 has been very disappointing to me. While I do enjoy Nintendo’s own people like Reggie, Mr.Miyamoto and such I missed the great games. I could really careless about their NintendoLand, it might be fun. But it wasn’t very exciting to watch it. And the fact they just spent about 2-3 minutes on Nintendo 3DS made me sad, sure they’ll have a whole hour for that tomorrow but I would have loved to see something right now. The montages of Wii Fit U wasn’t interesting at all, but it was pretty nice to see what can be done with the Wii U. I’m definitely looking forward to more of those things.

New Super Mario Bros U looked very nice and is probably a lot of fun to play. Batman Arkham City Armored Edition, wasn’t as appealing as I’ve already played Arkham City. The new stuff with the controller will probably fun, but it didn’t do anything for me.
New Super Mario Bros 2 for the 3DS also looked very nice, but there was to much focus on gold of what they showed. Not really sure how to react to that really. Paper Mario: Sticker Star looked really fun, so i want to see more of that. Luigi’s Mansion is still one of my favorite GameCube games and Luigi’s Mansion 2, now know as Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon for 3Ds is something I’m really interested in.

So while I thought Nintendo’s conference was a bit boring too, I think they had the best E3. Since Reggie is very charismatic and he even made the “My body is ready” joke. Gotta give him that! But I’ll wait a bit and see what Nintendo will offer in their Nintendo 3DS conference .
