Tales of Zestiria soon!

Not long now until Tales of Zestiria is released. Just a little more than three week left, gah! But it feels like half an eternity left. Time will probably fly by fast as always and before I know it it will be October 16h. It is my most anticipated game of the year, sure this year has been filled with great games. But the Tales of series is special too me.
And I’m also looking forward to Dragon Quest Heroes that is released the same day, going to be a JRPG feast for me. Yum, yum.

Well October is not only fun and games for me. I’m going to make a little operation, not going to go into what it is. Nothing dangerous (I hope) and I’m not doing it because of anything dangerous or something like that. It is just something to improve my quality of life.
So at least for a time I’ll be doing some other stuff in my work, can’t do my regular stuff for a while. But it’s going to be a nice relaxation to do something else. As long as I can work and don’t have to be home I’m pleased. =)

Thoughts on Metal Gear Solid V

I finished Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain earlier today, it was a bit of a chore to get the “true” ending. Well okay, not really I was just more or less a bit tired of having to do a bunch of side-ops to get it to unlock. But now that I’m finished I’m going to share some of my thoughts on the game, I was going to make this spoiler free from the beginning, but to talk about what I want I can’t do that.

So if you don’t want anything spoiled don’t read past this.

Some Dragon Quest titles

Today Square Enix had a livestream where they where going to announce their next mainline Dragon Quest game. And the announced game was Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that both versions find their ways overseas. Here is what they showed of the PlayStation 4 version.

From what I see the game looks fabulous! Can’t wait to see more and hopefully they’ll show combat next time. Here is the video shown for the Nintendo 3DS version.

Looks pretty promising too. I like the SNES inspired parts of the game, so I might just have to buy both if they release them in the west. They also announced that Dragon Quest X (the online game) is getting a PS4 port, so we’ll see if that makes it over. But according to “Verendus” of NeoGaf fame all Dragon Quest games announced for PlayStation 4 are coming over. Let’s hope his information is correct. I’ve been somewhat open in the past to what I think of MMO games, but if Dragon Quest X came over I’d be willing to try that.
Square Enix also showed a gameplay trailer for Dragon Quest Builders, that seems to be a Minecraft clone more or less, if my understanding is right. Never played Minecraft so I don’t really know, but it looks somewhat fun. A great time to be a Dragon Quest fan right now, Square Enix is giving the series a lot of love. Hopefully they’ll share that love with us in the west.

Beaten games 2015: Part 1

So I thought I was going to make a little list of the games I’ve beaten so far this year and write a little something about them. I will list ten games on this list at a time, that way the list won’t be to long and I can perhaps write a little more about certain games, not sure I will though since this, will just reflect some simple thoughts about the games. If anyone wants to know more of what I think of a game, I can write in the comments. The dates by the name is the date I beat the game.

01: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition [ 2015-01-01 ]
I was never a fan of the original Tomb Rider series, but this rebooted series really clicked with me. So much that I had finished the last gen version of this game and I had to play the current gen version too. I don’t replay games that often, but this was so good. A great way to start the year.

02: Tales of Symphonia Dawn of The New World HD [ 2015-01-10 ]
In my opinion it is a much weaker game than its predecessor, but I don’t think it’s flat out bad as so many others do. I had fun with the game, Martha is great!

03: The Wolf Among Us [ 2015-01-15 ]
Bigsby is one cool wolf. I really liked the story in this game, it might not have been anything special but it was fun seeing fairytale creatures hide in our world like regular humans.

04: Super Princess Peach [ 2015-02-01 ]
Move over Mario! It’s time for Peach to kick some butt! And she sure kicked it hard. A pretty typical Mario platformer game, really nice to see Peach being the star and not being kidnapped for once.

05: Transistor [ 2015-02-22 ]
I’ve heard people say so many great thing about this game, so of course I had to try it. But I honestly don’t see why people like this game. I didn’t really enjoy it while I was playing and wanted it mostly to end, sorry folks. This was the first disappointment of the year for me..

06: Wolfenstein: The New Order [ 2015-03-08 ]
Those who might have read what I’ve written before, know I’m not a fan of FPS but I got this one recommend from a friend who also didn’t like FPS. I must say I was really surprised! I had a blast with this game, it was fun and it was pretty nice to play something else than only JRPGs. A breath of fresh air for me.

07: Wild Arms 5 [ 2015-03-22 ]
And speaking about playing only JRPG’s… I wanted to finish this game for sometime and when I did I felt a bit empty, the game starts out great but I think it slowly goes downhill from there. Don’t get me wrong it is a good game, it just didn’t reach all the way to the end for me. Still hope we’ll see a Wild Arms 6 one day.

08: Saints Row: Gat out of Hell [ 2015-03-23 ]
Chaos, mayhem and destruction. A few words to describe the Saints Row series as of late, Gat out of Hell was short, very, very short. But it game some enjoyment, like punching Satan right in the face.

09: Metroid: Zero Mission [ 2015-04-03 ]
This was actually my very first Metroid game and I really liked it. It was enjoyable from start to finish, well the Zero Mission part was a bit frustrating, but enjoyable. We’ll see if I’ll ever finish Metroid Fusion.

10: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD [ 2015-04-04 ]
Me and my pal played thought the entire game together, it was really fun I must say. This was also my very first time clearing the game, I sadly lost all interest in the original when it came to gather the Triforce pieces. I am a bit ashamed of that, but at least I finished it, this time around

First Tales of Berseria trailer

So we’ve finally have a trailer for the newest Tales of game, Tales of Berseria. While it is not confirmed for a western release, I do hope Bandai Namco keeps up with their good work of releasing Tales of games in the west.

I like what I see, even if what we see isn’t much. But I already want the game, I want it bad!! So just as usual with Tales of games. I’m looking forward to a longer trailer and to see some better artwork of Velvet and hopefully we’ll see some of her companions soon. Damn, I really wish it could be October now. I really, really want to play Tales of Zestiria now.. Good things come to those who wait. Or so they say.

E3 2015: The rest of the show

And the E3 conferences have ended, well they ended some days ago actually.
This year was a pretty good show, with some surprises that actually interests me.
My biggest surprise among everything is that Square Enix and PlatinumGames are making a new NieR game. I was ecstatic to say the least. NieR was one of my favorite games for the previous generation so I’m very hyped about this one. PlatinumGames really is making every game from now on, they are involved in Transformers: Devastation, new NieR and Star Fox Zero for the Wii U.

We got too see a great new clip from Kingdom Hearts III and it looks bigger than ever! We got confirmation that Star Ocean 5 is being released in west for the PlayStation 4 in 2016 and we got a video of the game. I’m amazed how well it worked with their seamless battles, walking in the fields, see a monster and the battle menu pops up. While this is nothing new, I’m just amazed how quick it is! And you can have a big party with you to battles, they show 6 characters in battle at the same time and there seems to be room for one more. Crazy.

While Square Enix conference was long, they had some pretty sweet announcements that spoke to me. The one I found most boring was Nintendo. I liked their show with the puppets, but they didn’t announce anything new that spoke to me. They showed mostly stuff that was already announced and stuff that I already want, but I can’t honestly remember if there was anything else that spoke to me. Probably not, and remember this is my opinion. If you liked it good for you, good for you that you got something out of it.

All in all one of the best E3 in a good while. Usually there are just about one or two games that usually interest me. But this year there was a bunch, so I’m happy. I’m glad there was such a focus on the games this year from the big 3, they didn’t talk sales numbers or stuff like that. They just rolled with it and I liked that. They can do something separate if they want to announce how much they’ve sold. This E3 will certainly be remember as one of the better ones. What was your favorite stuff from E3?

E3 2015: The show so far

Now that both Microsoft and Sony’s show is over, lets see what where some of the highlights for me. I liked Microsoft’s event this year, first time ever I think. They where focused and it felt like they finally knew what they where doing, a bunch of great announcements. The first gameplay of Rise of The Tomb Raider was awesome.
The Rare collection which includes 30 titles from Rare, that’s a lot of quality games you get there. They announced that Xbox One would become backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games, which probably was my biggest surprise and something I think is great. The Minecraft / Hololens demo was pretty fucking awesome I must say.

Sony re-revealed The Last Guardian, guess it wasn’t canceled. I for one don’t care for the game at all, but I know a lot of other folks do, so I’m happy for them. Creator of Shenmue, Yu Suzuki revealed a Kickstarter for Shenmue 3, never thought I’d see the day. But then they went and revealed something I never thought I would see ever and that was the remake of Final Fantasy VII. Yes, they are finally remaking that game. I’m not a FFVII fan, I liked the game sure, but it’s not my favorite and I liked Crisis Core more. But I still got very excited over this news. They showed a lot of stuff that doesn’t interest me as much, but we got to see the first gameplay of Uncharted 4 and it looked good.

And now for two things that was not show in any of the press events, PlatinumGames is making Transformers: Devastation and it looks awesome! Really looking forward to that.

And I just check my Twitter just a short while ago, to see them having announced that they are releasing the 20th anniversary DualShock 4 controller separately! This might not a very big deal, but damn I’m in love with that color and the colored Home button. It really gets the nostalgia in me flowing, I need this controller. I’m going to get this controller when it is released in September. I’ve also wanted a second controller for a while, so this will be my new main controller and the other will be Player 2 controller.

Some really great stuff and so far one of the better E3 in a while. And let’s not forget we still have Nintendo’s and Square Enix event to see later today. But right now I need some sleep.
