Blue Dragon: Shadows, Magic & Eternity

I just finished playing Blue Dragon, a great game! I first played this game around 2009, but just played it for 2-4hours. But now almost 3 years later I played it from beginning to the end. It took me around 37hours to clear this game, I spent a few of those ours training my shadows so I could take on the last boss. I was so under-leveled that he owned me hard, time after time…

Once a year, violet clouds appear and bring with them disaster. For Shu’s hometown Talta, they bring the yearly land sharks. Shu’s friend Kluke lost her parents to the land sharks and together with Jiro these three kids are trying to take it down for good, so the people of Talta don’t have to be afraid anymore. They get dragged away by the land shark and this will lead them to find Nene, the evil mastermind behind the land sharks. And other evil doings, being cast aside by Nene, a mysterious voice tells them to swallow the light spheres that has appeared before them. It will grant them magic, to fight against Nene. After a small hesitation they swallow the light spheres and their shadows transform. They gain the form of mystical animal, apparently having a shadow like this is proof that you can use magic. Now with power, they can right the wrongs Nene has done in the world.

This is a pretty simplified/short down version of how the game starts, I don’t want to give it all away and to explain everything as it exactly goes down would take an eternity.
The battles are pretty standard JRPG, turned based just like Final Fantasy. And speaking of FF, this was one of the reasons I wanted to play this game. Since its made by the father of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakeguchi. With Nobuo Uematsu doing the music and doing one hell of a job with that! I’m probably one of the few who actually really like the boss song ”Eternity” I really feel like this game game is a spiritual successor to the Playstation 1, Final Fantasy games. With a more cartoony style of course. And ’m looking forward to trying their other game Lost Odyssey, which seems to be even more inline with being a spiritual successor to the FF games.

I really enjoyed this game, it’s been a long time since I played a classic JRPG. And one that was good and enjoyable! 2012 is of too a good start when it comes to games so far and I’m currently going through my old save file of Tales of Vesperia, which I think I’m near of nearing the end of the game. Well, there where a few stuff I liked in the Blue Dragon anime more than, I liked in the game. In the anime, the shadows all have personalities and are ”alive” so to say. While in they game, they are just a form/symbol for magic users. I might go deeper into the differences of the anime and game later, or just post what I liked and disliked about them. I was expecting them to be the same, but boy I was wrong. Its just about the characters and the shadows that are somewhat the same, the story is way different in the anime. Well, as I said I might go deeper into that in a later post. If you have an Xbox 360 and want to play an good old JRPG on a modern console, I can highly recommend Blue Dragon.

Hello 2012! Hope you bring goodies!

Hello 2012! How nice of you to come around, I hope you bring a bunch of wonderful things with you. And I hope that our year together will be awesome or at least we’ll get along well together.
I’ve started this year with playing Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360. It’s been a while since I played a more classic RPG and a good RPG for that matter. Well since this was MistWalker’s first RPG I just had to play this one and I’ve been interested in Blue Dragon for a couple of years. I got to play it for the first time around 2009 and its first now that I’m able to play it fully.
Of course I’m going to play Lost Odyssey later too, but Tales of Vesperia and
The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword are first on my list. And since I was able to borrow Elden’s Wii and Zelda, I really want to play that Skyward Sword.

So that’s a pretty neat way to start this year of with lots of great games! And this year will probably be filled with a bunch of great games and movies to I hope! Yeah, I’m really hoping this year will be really awesome.

Where are everyone?

Yeah, where are everyone? A lot of people I used to talk to has almost vanished from the internet. Is it just a slow time or has something happened? Either way its a shame. =/
Looks like two of my closests friends are going to get PS3’s soon.
Congrats to you. We have to play online together later. I would really love that. And next month its finally time for Cross Edge to be released.
Looking forward to that as hell. I just love 2D RPG, hope we will be getting some more of then on the stationary consoles. I don’t want 2D to die.

I’m still somewhat sick. But the coughing is starting to go away more and more now. And that’s good. So hopefully just a few more days and I’m ready to rock as hard as I did before! When I’m healthy again I’m thinking about visiting some friends.

360 time now!

Oh yeah! The Xbox 360 I had gotten from my friend Evangela returned today from being repaired. Thanks once again man. Hopefully I can get a hold of an controller and I can start to play Blue Dragon, tomorrow. Really looking forward to it, since my buddy Kntheking has said a whole lot of good stuff about the game. So I’m hyped. So I’m hoping I’ll really like the game.
Either way it will be really nice to play an RPG again, it was some time since the last one. Ever since I finished Eternal Sonata for PS3.

I’ve posted some new stuff over at my deviantART account, so you could head over there and check. If you are interested. I have also managed to catch a cold.
My throat is hurting like hell, and I’ve done nothing but cough. It’s starting to get real annoying now. Hope it can ease up soon….

Xbox 360 get!

Well sort of. Some time ago my friend ”Evangela” gave me his broken Xbox 360. So I gladly accepted and sent it in for repairs, he was to lazy to do this himself. (Well, you where…)
Not that I’m complaining since it scored me a 360. So its seems like its on its way back from Microsoft now. So looks like I might finally be able to play Blue Dragon. Well actually there is only one problem. How much I’d like to play I can’t. Since I don’t have a 360-controller. So I will need to find a cheap one next week, if I can afford it. Don’t care if its wired or not as long as I ca play with it. That didn’t sound right…
Either way I’m a lot closer to being able to play Blue Dragon than I was before.

And I guess some of you have heard. Tales of Vesperia IS heading to Playstation 3.
Only anounced for Japan right now. But hopefully we will see a US version too. I’ll still try to get the PAL version somehow when its released. Same with Star Ocean 4. Hopefully I can borrow them from someone. My economy is down the drains bad right now. God I hate it. Almost every last penny, goes to pay bills and make sure I have a roof under my head. I wonder how much longer this will have to be like this. I want to start to live again. Go places, be able to travel and visit friends. But right now stuff like that is like a dream. And I’ll continue to dream, untill I can’t stand it no more.
Well take care everyone. See ya!
